During the 12th World Urban Forum in Cairo, an exciting partner-led event was hosted by the UNESCO Centre for the Promotion of Human Rights at the Local and Regional Levels, along with UN-Habitat, the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), and the African Local Government Academy (ALGA) of United Cities and Local Governments Africa (UCLG Africa). The event, titled “Localizing Human Rights for Inclusive, Safe, Resilient and Sustainable Cities that Leave No One and No Place Behind,” was a vibrant exchange of examples of human rights-based local action. Leaders, politicians, technical experts, and civil society members at the local, national, and international levels shared their visions, strategies, approaches, innovations, and good practices for localizing human rights in sustainable cities and communities. Even more exciting, the event was accessible remotely via the WUF12 App, with 240 attendees following the event virtually.
