We are pleased to present the joint 2024 annual report of the UNESCO Chair in Human Rights and Human Security and the International Centre for the Promotion of Human Rights at the Local and Regional Levels as an anniversary edition. The report is now available online, highlighting the past 25 years of working for human rights.
The annual report provides an overview of the events and activities in 2024 and over the past 25 years, including a report on the fourth edition of the joint Academy and Conference “Human Rights Go Local: What Works,” the awarding of the 2024 Human Rights Prize, and many more stories about activities, events and publications undertaken to promote human rights in Graz and beyond.
The joint work programme focuses on building capacity for the protection of human rights in the spirit of the United Nations’ vision of “leaving no one behind,” emphasising the importance of human rights education and research and the role of cities and local governments in the realisation of human rights.
Together, our 21 staff members published three Toolkits for Equality, produced 22 learning videos for local authorities, accomplished four international cooperation projects, and advised 19 cities. We organised or attended 124 events and released 19 publications.
We continue to embark on an exciting journey towards rights-based and people-centred governance. Thank you for your support and engagement!
