The European Conference on Guaranteeing the Right to Education for All in European Cities took place on 27 May 2021 in hybrid format at the House of Culture in Plovdiv, Bulgaria and online. The event was held in English, German and Bulgarian with simultaneous interpretation.

The project team established three primary goals for the conference’s impact:

  1. Participating students and parents in Plovdiv and Dortmund could present their achievements to a larger audience all over Europe – an important signal for them after a period of isolation and in a marginalized situation.
  2. Involving Europe and create awareness worked well with the participation of European and international institutions (FRA, UNESCO) on the one hand and with the participation of the European Coalition of Cities against Racism (ECCAR) and six of its members on the other hand.
  3. Addressing local authorities and raising awareness for educational responsibility was achieved by the participation of three mayors from Dortmund, Graz and Plovdiv, as well as the ECCAR.
