Human Rights Go Local – What works?
“Governing the city by human rights objectives:
Management concepts and instruments”
Taking place virtually from 1 to 8 February 2023
Effective public management is essential for good governance and the proper functioning of local administration. Human rights guarantee a good quality of life for city dwellers. Applying management tools and approaches that embed human rights into the everyday practice of administrations helps local governments meet their human rights commitments. Embedding human objectives in public management improves programme development and service delivery, boosting local accountability and trust.
Which tools and instruments help integrate human rights into the management processes of local governments to benefit rights-holders? How resilient and sustainable are current practises?
Contribute your expertise! Join the interactive, multi-day online Academy bringing together local authorities and human rights players from across the globe. Share your expertise on mechanisms, instruments, and tools that help integrate human rights principles into public management.
Create solutions based on what works! Help devise lessons learnt and stimulate developments that advance management mechanisms promoting the respect, protection, and fulfilment of human rights at the local level. Interact with peers to help elaborate concrete guidelines for local governments on how to embed human rights into budgeting, programme development and service delivery.
Who should register?
We encourage representatives of cities, city networks, international organisations, and intermediaries from think tanks, academia, civil society, the private sector, and national/regional organisations with experience in public management to register.
